A walk from the outskirts of Kirkwall into the centre of town allowed an appreciation of the low sun on a Winter's day in Orkney. The walk, which began in the early afternoon, was about four and a half miles and ended after sunset. This suggests that the pace was very slow, but although there were frequent tops for photography, the real reason was the limited daylight at 59 degrees North.

The return trip was much gloomier, so consequently there weren't any photos of the walk home.
Lovely photos as always. I did try to post on your new site a while back but without luck. I’ll try again. Good to see you’ve popped over to Jersey for a visit :) B
ReplyDeleteHi B, I think I had beginner's luck with new site. Things haven't gone so well since, especially with videos loaded directly to the blogposts, so making more use of Vimeo than I'd like. I am amazed at your daily blogging, seriously impressive. It's a skill being able to maintain the quality of prose and pictures with such a prodigious output. And especially when there's so much else wanting doing in the lead up to the festive period.
ReplyDeleteYou’re too kind about my witterings 😹
DeleteStill amuses me that your town centre ‘duck pond’ gets Old Squaw in winter!
ReplyDeleteOr Calloo, as they're known around here.
